Cowboy Jack Clement
One of my musical heroes is Cowboy Jack Clement..
He is a legend among legends as a producer and artist..
Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Charley Pride, Waylon Jennings,
Don Williams, Roy Orbison, Nora Jones, John Prine, U2..
to name a few of the people he has worked with..
This is what I did..
I remembered seeing Cowboy Jack a few weeks ago..
He was across the street from the Church I attend when in Nashville.
He was standing on a porch of a building...
After work yesterday I drove to that building and walked in..
a nice fella was talking on a cell phone and he hung up
I asked if Cowboy was here..
He said he was and took me into the studio where Cowboy was sitting,
I walked over and introduced myself..
I told him it would be a great honor for me if he would listen my new album,,
and I asked him if he liked could he play it on his Outlaw Country show on Sirius/Xm..
He looked at the CD packaging and asked me about the horse on the back cover.
I told him it was Cisco, a horse I had broke and trained..
He was very friendly and easy to talk to..
He said he would listen and look forward to it.
Pretty dang cool.

Hope
the kindness of a friend
the animals we have in our lives
dogged determination in the face of immovable invisible forces
i love to throw a rope
to ride a horse as fast as he or she can go,
and then,
throw a rope from the back of that bolt of lightning straight enough..
straight enough to lay a loop over the horns of a Steer sprinting like Usain Bolt..
and you hope to dally fast enough not to lose a finger.
hope..
reasons for hope even though it cost too much to fill up your truck or car..?
may have to be a little more discerning on how much I get in and go..
or then again..
we may start seeing more and more cars abandoned on the sides of roads..
but this won't stop us from hoping..
will it?
or finding someone to help you sell your new album or whatever you have to sell..
it's like trying to find a door in a long dark hallway..
but you keep on hoping..
and most of all..
we hope because we think we are pretty sure that the One Who made us loves us..

Beauty
"The beauty of God is perfect beauty"
this is what our priest said last night at Easter Vigil..
17 adults came home to the Church..
it was a beautiful Mass..
from a 20 year old to a 60 year old,
black, Asian, white..
women and men..
it was simply beautiful..
a perfect kind of beauty..
today reminds us we can keep going.
we don't give up..
not on God and not on ourselves..
allelujah is our whispered mantra
we don't know it all..
but we know deep within..
that everything changes today..
and that is a beautiful thing..

The Gardener
The way we look at it
Determines our take on it
Perspective is everything
try to look at something differently
choose something you see all the time
come at it from a different angle
whether it be a person
an idea
whatever..
take the cross for instance
most of us see it in our mind a certain way
walk around to the back of the cross
look up at the sky above it
look at the crowd in front of it
or
maybe the empty tomb..
ask the Gardener to show you around..

He Is.
I thought it is a world without end amen
you hear some crazy stuff these days
distracting stuff
stuff that is fueled by fear
He's the only One Who knows anything
the only thing we know for sure...
He is Mercy
He is Just
He is Grace
He is Hope
He is Love
He is Truth
He is forgiveness
He is longsuffering
He is demanding..
He is.
Everything else is blowing in the wind..

hard to beat..
the beauty of a Spring morning
we rode for a few hours yesterday in a steady wind
Wes lost his hat a couple of times,
I lost mine once..and I never lose my hat..
it was a stout breeze..
My young horse Cisco needs work,
he's gotten a little stiff in the neck and shoulders..
a little heavy on the bit..
he softened up after a while,
relaxed and had good time..
Yellow flowers covered the field..
purple, blue, white and green flowers under hoof..
I told Wes "It's hard to beat this"..
he agreed.

Played Along
it's here in April..
not so much in March this year..
This morning it is barreling out of the West,
bringing some storms this afternoon..
is it just me?
or,
do you love the wind too?
You have to pull your hat down a little harder..
It holds mystery that a still day lacks..
I love the sound of wind..
the low hum it makes rounding corners of the house at 5:00 in the morning..
it made a low C this morning..
I picked up my guitar and found the note..
I played along..

Into the Woods
Just before light,
I followed the sound of an animal..
It was not far beyond me
Breaking limbs as it moved away
I stopped in the morning shadows and listened..
it stopped too..
I could hear it breathing.
Then I saw him..
A Whitetail Buck peered around a tree
His large rack rose high above his soft brown head..
the color of the woods, blending perfectly..
He could not see me but knew I was there..
he snorted and pawed the ground..
then like the greatest animal God ever made,
with one great leap,
he disappeared into the woods..

Daggers
you gotta watch them
everyone carries daggers
whether admitted it or not
ready to stab someone in the back at any moment..
if in the mind it serves the mission,
there is no hesitation..
isn't it funny that Jesus said,
"Love your enemies"?
guess He knew we would always have the chance to love someone..

anytime
the precious breath we take
this thin ribbon could break
anytime..
we can worry if we choose
we can fight win or lose
lean on Jesus or lean on booze,
it's a fine line..
The storm was pretty rough that came through Little Babylon yesterday..
Trees down, power lines down, electricity out for 59,000..
This morning it is beautiful..
cool..
clean.. as the first day ever made..
it's a crazy ride..

Country Music
an art form that falls apart when separated from its roots
These roots are based in the working man's expressions about living and dying..
Simple stories about heartache, hope, pleasure, and love..
The sound of Country Music is earthy and real..
the sounds of Steel Guitars, Fiddles, Bass, Drums, Piano, Flat Top Acoustics and Strats..
Real people singing about real things..
Sometimes it's funny,
most times it's sad..
Country Music is not pop music and never will be..
Neon is Country's spotlight,
not fireworks going off on stage..
It's Cowboys and Cowgirls,
Sheetrock Hangers and Carpenters driving around in gas guzzling trucks..
It's the Cattle Rancher in New Mexico,
the single mom working two jobs in Mississippi..
It's Western Swing and Bob Wills,
Hank Thompson and Hank Sr.
Merle Haggard and Lyle Lovett,
It is edgy, honest and pure..

Beautiful Day
Spring has sprung!
Man, it is beautiful here in Oxford this morning..
The birds are singing,
a nice breeze blowing..
I sure am grateful.
We live in a special Country..
A day like this reminds you the world ain't gone to hell..
If you watch the news it seems about over,
but I don't think so..
Gas costs too much,
food costs more than it ever has..
Gotta tighten the belt..
but somehow I think Americans will figure it out.
The hard working man and woman are tough...
They don't panic..they might get mad for a minute,
but they keep on.
The horses will still get fed..
Man, it is a beautiful day.

Momentum
Hello folks, I sure do appreciate you taking the time over the past couple of years to allow me the musings I write. I take all blame for the bad ones. As you know, my new album, "Sing About Something" is scheduled for availability on April 11. In the mean time, I have made pre-ordering available here.. http://www.wkeithmoore.com/sas/ where you may also listen to samples of the songs on the album. I am very thankful for the opportunity to make this record. It has been on my horizon for a long time, and timing is everything.. It is an honest record, as real as it gets.
If you Tweet, I need your help. If you would take this link., http://www.wkeithmoore.com/sas/ post it on Twitter and make a comment, you would be helping me reach a bunch of folks I couldn't reach on my own. I don't ask for much, but I am asking today for your help to help me build some momentum for this record coming soon.
I really do appreciate it,
Peace,
Keith

Tupelo
The rain has ended here.
The sun is starting to warm things up..
It's going to be 65 today..
Wes and I are heading to Tupelo,
the birthplace of Elvis,
there is a great Tack and Feed store there..
best prices on Wrangler Jeans you can find..
a great Catfish place..
Mississippi has a different rhythm,
a different sound..
The horses were ready to go this morning,
the smell of Honeysuckles and wildflowers..
grass as green as Ireland..
it's alright..
