Yourself

She told me man, you'll never be greater than yourself, I told her I really didn't care.---Bob Dylan

Who are we? Who do we want to be? There are thousands of books out today telling us "who we are". St. Augustine said that God knows us better than we know ourselves. Maybe we should be asking God who we are, instead of trying to find the answer from others who don't know any better than we do. Why is it so important to know ourselves? Did Jesus know Himself? He must have, He said things like, "I am the Way the Truth, and the Life.", and "Before Abraham, I am.", and "Unless you deny yourself, take up your cross and follow me, you can have no part in me." This does not sound like somebody unsure of himself. Now, I know i am not the Way, the Truth, and the Life. I was not before Abraham. So, this is a good place to start, I can know who I am not, and in this, I can allow God to start showing me who I am. He made us, and each person is vitally important to Him. Isn't this amazing?
