situation, and seeks out good. His inscrutable love seeks our
awakening.--Thomas Merton
We are sleepwalkers. We all are able to fall asleep standing up. One
minute grace is leading us and we are wide awake in the great
adventure of faith, and then, suddenly, we fall asleep in the light.
We go through the motions and the motions go through us. We are like
zombies in our relationship with God. We mouth the words and every so
often we feel a tug on our hearts to awaken. We toss and turn as if in
a dream, we try to scream, but can't make a sound. This is a state of
darkness where we can only wait for God. He must be doing something we
don't understand. He must be trying to wake something in us we don't
even know about. It can be about the scariest thing to go through in
this journey. I know I am scared.
