i love stories
great novels
it takes time to tell a good story
whenever one of my favorite authors writes a new one,
i hurry to my favorite bookshop,
down on the square in Oxford..
it is a ritual for me,
i buy the book,
have them wrap in Mylar to protect it,
i then go to my favorite coffee shop.
i order a double espresso,
sit down at a small table with my back to the crowd,
first, i smell the book..
nothing smells like a fresh book..
then i slowly open it to the first page..
the first line of a novel should be intriguing,
when it is so,
i read it twice..
close the book,
down the espresso in one shot..
get up and leave..
filled with anticipation for when the time is right enter a new world,
a new story..
