SING!

Last night we had an event in the store and I was honored to play for a couple of hours with Scott Partridge and Phil Keaggy. In the midst of playing many tunes, I wrote one and remembered it this morning. It is very unusual for me to remember one after that long in between. Here is a rough demo of it, and i sure wish I had Phil and Scott to play and sing on the demo, they were both incredible in their interpretations on the fly last night..

Scott and I will be in his studio soon recording my next album, and hopefully Mr. Keaggy will join us on a few tunes.. that would be a beautiful thing.

everywhere you go
everybody knows
there's a song about to be sung

someones tuning a guitar
someones filling a fruit jar
and the dogs are starting to howl

someone will always sing..
about something

I met a girl from France
she wore strawberry pants
had a voice as smooth as a silkened hat

she played piano and cried
about a friend who had died
that dear friend was a 25 year old cat

someone will always sing...
about something

My great uncle played the fiddle
he always smelled like old spice
he landed on Normandy Beach

He met a girl on a farm
she hid him for days from all harm
and my uncle came home with a violin

someone will always sing..
about something

it's a gift from the Lord
this desire to make chords
this passion to make melody and rhyme

it does something to the soul
even for birds and black crows
to sing about something all the time..

someone will always sing..
about something
