today is silent

He has gone to free from sorrow Adam in his bonds and Eve, captive with him -- He who is both their God and the son of Eve.. "I am your God, who for your sake have become your son... ...I order you, O sleeper, to awake. I did not create you to be a prisoner in sheol. Rise from the dead, for I am the life of the dead." [Ancient Homily for Holy Saturday

today is silent
when Jesus entered into the place
where the faithful captives were held
St. Paul says,
"He led captivity captive."
much happened on this day
great joy flooded souls who had been waiting
perfect light drove away darkness
bonds were broken
death lost its dominance...
and in Jerusalem,
in the silence of the disciples,

in the anxiety of losing their Lord,
God was doing another work
teaching them to wait for Him...

and God is still doing this in our lives
when we carry crosses
and feel all is lost
He is at work in our own dark hidden places,
setting us free
