The first reading given in the liturgy
the first day after Christmas
from the book of Acts
Stephen is stoned by religious folk
Saul is "concurring"
later of course,
Saul becomes Paul
and the rest is our history
two men changed by this new love come down
this is what Christmas is all about
Love come down
a new commandment given by the Son of Man,
"love one another"
Stephen sees Jesus standing next to God in heaven
Saul is blinded and hears Jesus calling his name
can you imagine what it was like when Paul met Stephen in heaven
there was no hatred or guilt
there was no unforgiving or false humility
no self righteousness or grudge
because Christmas brought the remedy to all of this stuff..
