Freedom

You shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free.--Jesus

Why would Jesus say this? He knows how important freedom is to the soul of a man. Wars have been waged for it. Nations are built upon the idea. But what is freedom? Is it being able to do whatever we want to do? Is freedom being able to do or say anything we want? The "free" Jesus was speaking of means something more. It is so beyond being able to do whatever we want. If we know the truth, and He said He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life, then we shall be set free from slavery to false freedom. We shall be set free from the sin that so easily entangles us, so that we might run the race of true liberty to follow Him with abandon. True freedom is about saying yes to Jesus. Any other kind of freedom is a lie. Liberty lies in these words alone, "Not my will, but Thine be done." Jesus said this too.
