Power and Glory

Can you drink the cup that I drink, or be baptized with the baptism with which I am baptized?---Jesus

This is from Mark's gospel, chapter 10. James and John had just asked Jesus to give them some power and glory. Jesus tells them it is not His to give and then He asks them if they are ready to go where He goes and feel what He feels. He is still asking us today. We still want power and glory like James and John, and He is still telling us that without our crosses there is no empty tomb. This is rubber meeting road stuff. It never changes, we have to decide daily to follow Him up to Jerusalem.
